Flensburg's first and only specialty roastery – tucked away in a courtyard off Große Straße. On a good day you can smell the freshly roasted beans all the way out into the pedestrian zone. The team roasts in small batches and guides you at the bar by flavour profile; usually three different beans are on offer. Espresso, milk drinks and filter coffee at an exceptional level, alongside hand-crafted latte art and homemade vegan cakes. Flensburg's best-known city café and the locals' regular for good coffee: Plan B Kaffeebar sits on the corner of Norderstraße and Oluf-Samson-Gang in the heart of the old town and serves espresso, cappuccino, flat white and filter coffee at a high level. The Sieger family run Bock 19 right by the yacht club in Bockholmwik and serve regional, seasonal cuisine alongside a wide selection of homemade cakes and tortes. The view stretches far across the outer Flensburg Fjord all the way to Denmark. Reachable on the Fördestieg coastal path in about 25 minutes on foot – a dreamy morning walk along the cliff coast.

At the tip of the Holnis peninsula – the northernmost mainland point of Germany – this beach café offers one of the most extraordinary panoramas in the region: views of the fjord, the Danish coast and the open Baltic all at once. A small bistro café run by Christina Tiebel in Westerholz, a hamlet between Langballigau and the Angeln countryside – barely known, but warmly recommended by those in the know. Regional and seasonal cuisine made from high-quality, predominantly local produce, premium ingredients from organic producers. On the Jensen family's strawberry farm in Sörup-Löstrup, in the heart of the Angeln countryside: homemade tortes baked fresh every day, cakes, homemade jams and pizza from the wood-fired oven. In summer pick-your-own in the fruit fields, beautiful open farm garden. Locals warmly recommend it as a cycling destination from Bockholm/Flensburg – the journey there is almost as lovely as the destination.
