Alter Meierhof – Manor Spa with fjord view

The Vitalhotel Alter Meierhof on the shore of the Flensburg Fjord is the leading wellness house in the region – and one of the most renowned spa addresses in all of Northern Germany. The treatment portfolio includes a certified Shiseido beauty farm, an oriental hammam temple with pestemal ceremony, a rasul steam bath beneath aromatic herbal scents, massages, body treatments and a broad course programme. Plus the Vital Bar for breakfast, snacks and dinner in a bathrobe – and the two-star restaurant Meierei under chef Dirk Luther.

Das James – SPA Five Senses on the fjord horizon

The 5-star city resort Das James at the Sonwik marina offers, with SPA Five Senses, the largest and most versatile wellness area in Flensburg itself: 2,000 m² across three levels, designed for all senses and all generations. The sauna world (16+) features Finnish sauna, bio sauna, steam bath, an exclusive ladies' area and an oriental hammam oasis. The centrepiece is the 21-metre rooftop pool with indoor and outdoor sections.

Unique is the separate Family Spa with its own kids' pool (32.2 °C), family sauna and kitchen – so parents can relax while children splash next door. The spa includes six beauty cabins, a Private Spa Suite for two, an Underground Boxing & Fitness Gym and a yoga studio. The in-house restaurant Das Grace was awarded a Michelin star and the Green Star for sustainability.

Strandhotel Glücksburg – wellness on the historic spa beach

The legendary Strandhotel Glücksburg – described in the Michelin Guide as the 'white castle by the sea' – offers an exclusive sauna area and steam bath right next to the historic pier. The hotel has stood at this location since 1872 and combines Baltic spa-hotel tradition with modern comfort. The wellness area with sauna, steam bath and treatment rooms is much more intimate than the large spa houses of the region – ideal for those who seek a quiet retreat rather than a vast facility. The restaurant Felix is awarded a Gault-Millau plate.

Fördeland Therme – Glücksburg's adventure pool

The Fördeland Therme is the heart of Glücksburg's public leisure infrastructure – right in town, just a few minutes from Bockholm. The complex combines an adventure pool with authentic Baltic look with an extensive sauna world, sports pool and varied courses.

An adventure pool with current channel, bubble loungers and water fountains, a large water slide, a sports pool for active swimmers, an outdoor area with beach volleyball – all designed like a maritime harbour. For course enthusiasts there is aqua jogging, diving courses and swimming courses from baby swimming to seahorse certificates. The sauna bar and bistro round things off. Anyone with the Ostseecard receives a €2 discount on all standard rates.

Steigenberger Alsik – Alsik Nordisk Spa, Sønderborg

The Steigenberger Alsik Hotel & Spa in Sønderborg is an excursion destination of a special class: 4,500 m² of spa across four floors, awarded Denmark's largest wellness area. The hotel design follows architect Frank Gehry's masterplan for Sønderborg's harbour front – the building itself is already an architectural experience.

Alsik Nordisk Spa is deeply inspired by Nordic nature and bathing culture: Aurora cave with northern-light atmosphere, Fire Lounge, Salt Lounge for deep relaxation, Tea Lounge, an outdoor infinity saltwater pool overlooking the Alssund – combined with classic and innovative spa therapies. Romantik Hotel Waldschlösschen – GartenSpa on the Schlei

Run by the Behmer family for over 65 years, Romantik Hotel Waldschlösschen in Schleswig has been part of the Romantik Hotels family since 2023 and is considered one of the most charming wellness houses between Flensburg and Kiel. The philosophy: enjoyment in harmony with nature.

The 2,500 m² GartenSpa is the unique selling point: an expansive wellness area with a scent garden and herb pavilion outdoors. Inside, there is a swimming pool (5 × 10 m with counter-current), whirlpool, Finnish sauna (80 °C), bio sauna (50 °C), aroma steam bath, ice fountain, drench and adventure showers, Kneipp hose and warm benches. A Russian outdoor sauna rounds off the offer. Highlight for women: the exclusive Ladies Lounge with private spa, own bathtub, water bed, rasul temple and Vichy shower.
