# Holiday Home with Pool and Sauna on the Baltic Sea: What Really Matters

A holiday home with pool and sauna on the Baltic Sea combines two worlds: summer by the water and wellness that works even on grey days. But not all offers are equal — a shared indoor pool in a holiday park and a private wellness area are worlds apart. In this guide we explain what to look for and how we have done it at Villa Boreal in Bockholm near Glücksburg.

## Private or shared? The key question

Many listings advertise a pool and sauna but actually mean shared facilities in a holiday complex. Look for words like “private” or “for exclusive use”. Only then are pool and sauna really yours alone — with no time slots and no other guests.

## Pool: indoor or outdoor, heated or not?

On the Baltic, a heated pool is almost essential, as the sea stays cool even in high summer. Ask which months the pool operates and what water temperature it reaches. Outdoor pools are a summer experience; indoor pools can be used all year round.

## Sauna: location beats size

A sauna in the basement is nice — a sauna with a sea view is an experience. Free-standing barrel saunas in the garden are especially popular. Best of all is cooling off in the sea itself: walking down the jetty into the Baltic after a sauna session is one of the most Scandinavian rituals there is.

## Checklist for your booking

Private or shared wellness area? Pool operating months and water temperature? Type of sauna (Finnish, bio, infrared)? Extras such as hot tub, fireplace or outdoor shower? Direct access to the sea? Are towels and bathrobes included? These questions save you surprises on arrival.

## How it works at Villa Boreal

Villa Boreal sits right on the Flensburg Fjord in Bockholm. The property includes a heated outdoor pool by the sun terrace, a Finnish barrel sauna with sea view, a hot tub and a private 15-metre bathing jetty — so the cool-down after the sauna is the fjord itself. Main house and beach house are only ever let together: pool, sauna, garden and beach are for you alone.

## Wellness all year round

In summer the pool and jetty beckon; in autumn and winter the sauna, hot tub and fireplace become the heart of your stay. Off-season, a holiday home with sauna on the Baltic is an insider tip: empty beaches, clear air and, with a little luck, even northern lights over the fjord. The outdoor pool is heated and usable all year round.

## Who is a holiday home with pool right for?

Families value the pool as a safe place to swim right by the house, couples the peace of their own wellness area, small groups an evening sauna together. Villa Boreal sleeps up to eight guests, pets are welcome and the minimum stay is three nights.
